Cheek 06.jpgFirst of all I want to give thanks and praise to God for allowing me to see that I was dead in sin and for saving me here at Agape in 2003.  You see, after attending Agape off and on for several years, God worked through our Pastor and made me realize that even though I thought I was a “good” person, I was not even close (Romans 3:10,23).  In April of 2003 I can say I became a “True Convert” by turning from my old life and putting my trust in Christ (Acts 16:31 & Romans 10:9-10,13).  It has been an amazing four years seeing what God has accomplished in His Church.  Before being saved, I never would have realized I would want to hear, study and be able to teach God’s Word.  We at Agape are being blessed every time Pastor Cornette brings us the Word of God through his teaching.

In 1995 I married my beautiful wife, Susan, what a blessing she has been.  We have two children; Maggie, 5, and Matthew, 2.  It is wonderful to see how our family looks forward to fellowship with God’s people and how at such young ages our children are growing spiritually.  Susan and I have grown so much together by being involved in ministry here at Agape.  Susan, having a beautiful voice, is a member of the choir and Agape Praise.  I have been able to help run the soundboard and assist with the CD and Tape ministry.  In the fall of 2005, I started teaching the 1st-3rd grade class.  Now God has called me to role of Deacon.  Looking back four years ago, I would have never imagined being in such a position.  I now realize if we submit to God’s will and have a servants heart it is not up to us to determine our future but let Him lead us through it.

1st Timothy 3:8-13, Paul spells out the characteristics of what a Deacon should be like.  I pray, and ask that you pray for me, that I will live my life according to His Word.  My goal as a Deacon is to serve.  First, I know that I am still growing spiritually and want to serve our Pastor that he may lead us all in that growth.  Secondly, I have been given several families in the church to be a Deacon over.  I want you to know that I pray for you regularly.   If you ever need anything at anytime I ask that you please let me or a fellow Deacon know so that we can assist you.  I look forward to getting to know each of you and your families as we fellowship together.

John 13:35 Jesus says “By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”  This shows Christ-like love for not only those with physical needs but also the church body as a whole.  I have not only seen this at Agape but have also experienced it along with my family.  As a Deacon, I will pray and serve in anyway I can to see us continue to grow in this area.  I have heard numerous times from visitors what a loving church we are, let us continue this not only when we are gathered together but as we go out into the community and let God get the glory He deserves.

For His Glory
